Tom Kerridge serves some of the best pub grub in the country. His two pubs have both been awarded Michelin stars. Tom loves cooking and eating good food. He loves it so much that five years ago he weighed in at 30 stone. Tom took some drastic action, and through a combination of diet and exercise, he lost 12 stone - almost half his body weight. For Tom, dieting meant cutting out the carbs, quitting alcohol and hitting the gym. But not everyone can follow such a strict regime.
So Tom has decided to come to the rescue of a group of local dieters, and help them finally lose weight - this time for good. The experts say that reducing calories is the best way to lose weight long-term, so that is what Tom's dieters are going to do. Tom meets his gang of 13 dieters for the first time over a reduced-calorie breakfast in one of his pubs. He lays out what the dieters can expect from him and what he expects in return. They must stick to daily calorie limits for the next 12 weeks, and he is going to give them amazing recipes and cooking tips to help them.
But that is not all. Because he has been through weight loss himself, he is going to mentor them every step of the way. He knows they will struggle at times, but with his help there is every chance they can turn their lives around. The gang are all eating way too much of the wrong kinds of foods. If they are going to lose weight for good, Tom needs to show how to take control of what they eat, not let food control them. To do this, he needs to tap into their motivations for losing weight and keep them focused on achieving their goals. As a self-confessed former comfort eater, Tom knows only too well the trials, tribulations and temptations which lay ahead for the group. So
comfort eating is where he wants to begin. Show less
