10 Puppies and Us

Series 1

Episode 3

Duration: 59 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two ScotlandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland

We chart the ups and downs of ten puppies and their families through their all-important first six months together. Every year, we welcome a quarter of a million puppies into our homes and in this series we explore how the nation's favourite pet develops, learns and adapts to their new world, but also the profound effects they can have on the lives of their owners. We capture both the mayhem and delight a new puppy brings, from toilet training and first walks, to sleepless nights and getting used to their new owners. On hand to offer our families expert advice is dog behaviourist Louise Glazebrook.

In this episode, we meet Emma Lowe and her five children as she searches for a very particular puppy for her family. Four-year-old son Alfie has Down's syndrome and autism, so Emma is hoping the new puppy will act as a therapy dog to help soothe Alfie when he is distressed.

Newlyweds Leigh and Bella bring home Butch Cassidy, a pug who they have high hopes of turning into an online hit, even engaging a social media team. They soon discover that puppies can be very similar to babies when Butch won't sleep, and so call in Louise to help them restore their once peaceful nights.

We catch up with nail salon owner Hanh as she takes on her third chihuahua puppy, in the hopes it will stop 21-week-old Chloe attacking former top dog Rocky. But how will feisty Chloe react to the new arrival?

And professional psychic Delia finally welcomes the big breed leonberger she had fallen in love with. But her small puppy starts to grow in size as well as temperament, and Delia soon finds herself completely out of her depth. Show less
