Springwatch Episode 11

Duration: 1 hour

First broadcast: on BBC Two HDLatest broadcast: on BBC Two England

Live from their base in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan share the latest news from the wildlife cameras over the past 24 hours.

It has been a busy day -the last two chaffinch chicks finally left the nest a whole day after the first, whereas the wrens all jumped ship in less than six minutes. Springwatch takes a look at how the buzzard chick has grown in the last few weeks, and concerns about the male blackbird's damaged eye are growing.

The grey wagtail family is doing well, but they have had a surprise visitor - a kingfisher has taken up residence just next to their nest.

Martin Hughes-Games goes to meet one of our most rarely-seen owls, the long-eared, the show catches up with the egrets in Somerset and meets a river keeper on the Kennet in Wiltshire, who takes the team through spring on his patch of the river.

Finally, Springwatch meets Paul, a man who has developed an intimate relationship with nature - all of which started when he built his first bird box at just eight-years-old. Show less
