The Nationalists
Two films, tonight and Wednesday, explore 25 bloody years in Northern Ireland from both sides of the "peace line".
In 1969 the official IRA was almost unarmed, a political talking shop, and its provisional wing did not exist. Now the latter is said by some to be the most effective terrorist organisation in the world.
This film traces the process of the transformation, which has happened in spite of the fact that the nationalist community is more affluent than it used to be, sharing more in political power, and largely supports the SDLP.
The answer to the paradox lies in the deprived Catholic ghettoes, more alienated than ever.
