The competition launch sees the most ambitious phone shop staff receiving news that the top brass of the industry has put them forward to represent their company.

The stakes are high and managers descend from head office to mentor the likes of Jonny Brown from EE, who won his own company award for best salesman, but despite his 10 years of experience, his manager thinks there is room for improvement and believes Jonny needs to up his game when it comes to his meet and greet and his smile.

He faces tough competition from Maria Cooper, who used to sell marital aids for a well-known lingerie company before moving from checkout counter at Tesco to phones, emerging as Tesco Mobile's shining star. Maria fights to stay in the competition alongside 32 other sales associates deemed the very best, including cheeky Geordie Andy from small independent retailer Fonehouse - a charismatic geek who fancies his chances.

The first test is the Mystery Shop- a shopper who secretly films their customer approach. Their every move will be scrutinized - do they understand their customer's needs? Do they know their way around an HTC M8 with extra-large screen? The mystery visits are secretly filmed and - good or bad - posted online for the entire industry to see.
