Drama set on the rugged north east coast of Scotland in the 1800s.

Catrine is the wife of a dispossessed farmer who hates his new life as a herring fisherman, catching the 'silver darlings' in order to make a living from the sea. When he is press-ganged into the Royal Navy, she must face life without him and goes to live with an aunt while she brings up her son Finn alone. There she runs into Roddie Sinclaire, a leader in the community which has to battle a cholera epidemic, and finds romance. Show less
