A young writer who believes she is related to Conan Doyle gets a job as a cleaner in a hotel by the sea. The hotel is owned by a German author suffering from writer's block and his wife. After learning that she is also writing a book, he offers to give her creative writing lessons. The pair begin to have an affair.
