The Goodbye Girl

on BBC Two England

The first of two Neil Simon comedies starring
Richard Dreyfuss, Marsha Mason

Paula McFadden, a divorcee and ex-dancer with a 10-year-old daughter, seems fated to be the 'goodbye girl' whom lovers find easy to leave. When her latest walks out on her he adds insult to injury by subletting their apartment.
Out of necessity Paula agrees to share it with the new tenant, bohemian actor Elliot Garfield - but strictly on the understanding that their paths cross as infrequently as possible.
