Downfall

Duration: 2 hours, 25 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC FourLatest broadcast: on BBC Two England

World War II drama. April, 1945 and it's the last days of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich. The Battle of Berlin rages and the Russians move unstoppably towards the centre of the city and the bunker from which Hitler and his inner circle are attempting to direct the German forces. As defeat looms, the increasingly unhinged Hitler readies himself for the end and makes his final declarations to a dwindling crowd of loyalists. His decline is seen through the eyes of Traudl Junge, his innocent and deluded young secretary. Show less
