with John Pitman
A series of six programmes which follow the fortunes of people who have decided to risk a dramatic change in their lives. 5: A Home for Janice?
A year ago, 16-year-old Janice [text removed] asked to be taken into care because she was so unhappy at home. Since then, she's been shunted around various children s homes, never really settling anywhere. Now she has decided she wants to be fostered.
Lynn and Allen [text removed] have three young boys and a spare room in their house. For two years they have talked about becoming foster parents. Now they have finally decided they would like to give a home to a difficult disturbed teenager-and Janice fits the bill. On the surface it ought to be simple - she wants a home and they want a foster child. But because one in three foster placements break down, everybody knows there are going to be problems.
This is the story of how social workers at Coventry try to bring Janice and the [text removed]s together, try against the odds to make it work.
