Gardeners' World

2009

Episode 1

Duration: 59 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC HDLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Wales (Analogue)

The first programme from the new home of Gardeners' World, Greenacre. Toby and the team begin the most ambitious project ever on Gardeners' World: to transform a muddy, grassy field into the nation's new back garden.

This first one-hour programme takes 'ten tasks to kick-start your garden' as its central theme. From the instant gratification of planting pretty spring flowering shrubs and potted bulbs, through to building a compost bin for next to nothing, the show is jam-packed with tips and hints to get viewers out in the garden at the weekend.

Features include how to grow fruit salad in a pot on the patio and thrifty plant swapping tips from gardener on a shoestring Alys Fowler.

Carol Klein is busy planning ahead for the summer by planting pots full of tubers and corms, and Joe Swift gives a helping hand in planting Greenacre's first iconic specimen trees. Show less
