Match of the Day 2

2008/09

30/11/2008

Duration: 45 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two ScotlandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Wales

Adrian Chiles presents highlights from the day's four Barclays Premier League matches including two high-profile derby clashes - Chelsea v Arsenal and Manchester City v Manchester United.

The clash at Stamford Bridge pitted the footballing brains of Luiz Felipe Scolari and Arsene Wenger against each for the first time. Chelsea came from behind to win this fixture at Stamford Bridge last season, thanks to goals from Didier Drogba. The Ivorian striker has had an injury-hit start to the campaign but his team-mates have excelled in his absence. By contrast, Arsenal have struggled for consistency and this game was their first London derby since they were famously pegged back to a 4-4 draw by Tottenham in October.

Mark Hughes appeared in plenty of Manchester derbies as a player but this was the first time that the former United legend had been involved on the City side of the fence. City fans had been used to disappointment in this fixture in recent years - until last season when they did the double over their neighbours. Could Hughes put one over his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson to continue City's winning run?

Harry Redknapp has already enjoyed a 3-0 win over Everton this season while Portsmouth manager, but now he faced the Toffees with his new club Tottenham, who need all the points they can get as they attempt to climb the table. Meanwhile, Redknapp's old club Portsmouth hosted Blackburn at Fratton Park.
