Shortly after buying his 23,000 acre estate in Sutherland, Paul met and married Pippa. The Lodge has been empty for weeks but now the quiet spell is about to end as Paul is about to arrive back from London with his family who are about to enjoy a holiday.
Paul is busy with an adverising meeting for the shop he's opened in nearby Ardgay, and a plan to start offering pony trekking. He's improving 10 miles of road, replacing 50 miles of deer fence and rebuilding three bothies. Rangers David and Innes put down their guns for the day to teach the family how to fish.
On the estate, the wildlife team are going to put satellite collars on the pigs as the first part of the big pig experiment. Added to that, a fire on a neighbouring property threatens to overrun the estate.
Paul's trying to turn the clock back. Red squirrels are still missing here after 30 years. In the last three years he has planted over 80,000 saplings. Wildlife expert Roy Dennis concludes that if the neighbours band together there could be enough woodland to sustain red squirrel.
On a trip to Sweden, David and Paul meet moose expert Sune to discuss bringing a pair back to Alladale. In Sweden a moose consumes about 5,000 saplings each winter. Paul hopes that at Alladale they will stick to heather. Paul brings Sune over to check out his moose's new home. Show less
