The year AD 70 and Jerusalem is sacked by a triumphant Roman army, killing a million citizens and sending thousands into slavery. Under the leadership of Eleazar Ben Yair , a handful of resistance fighters retreat to the impregnable wilderness fortress on top of Mt Masada to harass and humiliate their Roman conquerors.
Due to retire, General Flavius Silva, Rome's finest general, would like a quick and honourable solution to the Jewish problem.
