For the Schools: Birds in Winter: 1: The Coming of Winter

on BBC Television

Filmed and introduced by Dick Bagnall-Oakeley.
With the end of summer the pattern of bird-life in Britain begins to change. The swallows leave for Africa where insect food is plentiful. Some of our resident birds change their diet altogether, while others flock together for safety.
Today's programme illustrates this changing behaviour and also shows ways of finding the roosts of birds.
