Britain's museums are in trouble. Now there is some hope for a situation that has been getting worse for years.
In Chronicle tonight the National Heritage Society will be presenting £1,000 and the Illustrated London News Trophy to the museum which last year did most to improve its facilities and services to the public.
Magnus Magnusson introduces six museums which have reached the final. All of them show how they have discarded the dry, dusty images of the past to try to win the title 'Museum of the Year.'
