Destruction of the Indian: 1: The Heart of the Forest

on BBC Two England

A series of three films by Adrian Cowell.

For 400 years the Indians of America have fought a losing battle against the white invaders. Dozens of tribes have been exterminated, many dispossessed of their lands and detribalised. A few in the remote forests of Central Brazil still remain virtually untouched by civilisation. But they are at war with the Whites, and when they kill a white intruder into their territory they enact a strange and terrifying ritual to appease his spirit.
