On their first day at sixth-form college, a brash young man hitches a ride home with a taxi-driver's daughter.
Across town, a woman quits her job in a row with the boss. From these seeds of insult, real and presumed, grows a five-year story of two families - one Jewish, one Muslim - locked in rivalry and love.
For Shalom Salaam , Mamta Kaash won the Best Actress Award, and Gareth Jones
Best Screenplay, at the 1988 Cannes Television Festival.
