When a black boxer seems likely to win America's boxing crown for the first time, a massive search is launched to find a great white hope to beat him. The search proves fruitless and Jack Jeffer son becomes the first black champion. The Establishment, however, have no intention of letting him get away with it: if they cannot beat him in the ring, they will put him down another way.
