In whole fields of medicine technical progress in treatment and biological research are advancing together.

Hay fever, the most common of allergies, is caused by airborne particles such as pollen grains and fungus spores. Scientists at the Wright-Fleming Institute are investigating the mechanism in the body which results in hay fever and asthma, and also what is in the pollen that produces the allergic reaction.
