A series of six films about English communities where the past is still strongly reflected in the present. 5: Guiting Power
In 1958 a Scots-born Wiltshire farmer bought half a decaying Cotswold village, accepting with it the title of Lord of the Manor and the challenge of a village ' asking desperately for help'. Now the cottages his Trust restored are available only to local families and a thriving village school points to a future for a traditional Cotswold village.
Brian Trueman talks to the Lord of the Manor, Raymond Cochrane , and to members of old-established local families who, for the most part, approve of this in-comer whose money has bought continuity for the village.
