A series of six programmes about the cinema and public opinion in the 1940s. 5: Our Soviet Friends Britain's relationship with the Soviet Union was one of the thorniest propaganda problems of the 1940s.
Between 1939 and 1941 Russia was a totalitarian aggressor. From 1941 to 1945 she was our gallant ally. After 1945 the previous stereotype soon began to return.
