The last in a series of seven films about artists at work today. Edward Ruscha
(Ed-werd Rew-shay)
'Hollywood's not just a place. Hollywood is a verb. You can "Hollywood" something. You can "Hollywood" anything.'
ED RUSCHA's art materials have included egg white, spinach, gun-powder, blackberry juice, pastels and oils.
On a clear day he can see the huge Hollywood sign from his city studio. But most days are smoggy; and he certainly can't see the sign from his rocky retreat 5,000 feet up in the clear air of the Californian desert.
The film follows him to and fro, and watches him labour on a tough desert project which calls for help from his friends.
