World Snooker

on BBC Two England

Live coverage of the concluding frames of this year's world championship first round, as Welshman Mark Williams and Lancashire's Stuart Pettman vie for the remaining place in round two. Williams, a former world champion and the winner of this year's Masters tournament, is sure to be favourite over Pettman, a player who failed to qualify for an appearance at the Crucible in 2002 and has not yet advanced beyond the final 32 of any major event.
At this stage last year, Williams secured an 10-7 win over former champion John Parrott to move forward into the second round - however, this was a disappointing match fraught with difficulties for Williams, who described his own performance as embarrassing. Could Williams face a similarly difficult opening match in this year's contest?
Introduced by Hazel Irvine , with commentary by Clive Everton , Dennis Taylor , John Virgo , Willie Thome,
Ray Edmonds and Terry Griffiths.
