The final masterclass in the series given by American trumpet virtuoso and jazz musician Wynton Marsalis , who plays and discusses music with an audience of young people.
Tackling the Monster. Marsalis is joined by cellist Yo-Yo Mafora discussion of the importance of, and different approaches to, practising technique - which both musicians confess they still dislike.
Marsalis suggests 12 ways of practising, including seeking private instruction, writingout a schedule covering all the different aspects of playing the instrument, setting goals that chart development, playing only when at full concentration, and practising in a group.
Ma performs Sergei Prokofiev 's march from The Love for Three Oranges with three cello students, and the programme ends with a rendition of Duke Ellington's Mood Indigo. Executive producer Chris Lent
