Cardiff For several years Idris Thomas was engaged in. the world of insurance, while at the same time he used to play the organ at Gellygaer Church. Before this he was deputy organist at Gilfach, Bargoed. Early in 1936 he was invited to play at the Empire Theatre during a guest week, a special feature in which three organists took part, each playing two nights. After this he was asked to play in a celebrity concert in which Paul Roheson appeared, and a little later he was appointed to his present post.
