American Challenge
This is the story of The Observer Singlehanded Transatlantic Race in 1980 when, after years of conceding victory to the British and French boats, the Americans won in every class, smashing the existing records.
Filmed from fixed cameras on board the yachts, it records moments of high drama, anguish, unbearable tension, loneliness and. finally, exhilaration and near disbelief when the Americans sweep home to victory.
