Placido Domingo sings the title role in Verdi's opera, partnered by Kiri Te Kanawa as Desdemona, with Sergei Leiferkus making his debut in the role of lago. The opera is conducted by Sir Georg Solti for this special evening celebrating his 80th birthday. With stage designs by Timothy O'Brien and directed by Elijah Moshinsky , the event is in aid of the Musicians' Benevolent
Fund and the Royal Opera
House Trust. Sung in Italian with English subtitles.
