Championship from Muirfield,
Lothian. Muirfield's connection with the Open Championship spans 100 years. Harold Hilton in 1892 was the first winner here, and Nick Faldo in 1987 the most recent. In the intervening years some of golf's legendary names such as Harry Vardon , Walter Hagen , Henry Cotton , Jack Nicklaus , Tom Watson and Lee Trevino have raised the coveted trophy.
