The last of the four matches in the first round are played this evening, involving two former world champions.
That great ambassador Of darts LEIGHTON REES , winner of the first world championship in 1978, has a difficult task against No 3 seed MIKE GREGORY , and so has 1982 world champion JOCKY WILSON (6), who is playing the Welsh star CERI MORGAN.
The other matches include a local derby, RITCHIE GARDNER versus ALAN GLAZIER , semi-finalist last year; and newcomer from Canada AVTAR GILL, who plays FRANS DEVOOGHT from Belgium.
