The Book Programme

on BBC Two England

Robert Robinson introduces the first of a new series of weekly programmes about books and their writers and readers. Burgess in Monaco
This week an interview with novelist Anthony Burgess, filmed in Monaco where he now lives, having spent several years in exile in Malta and Italy. Now approaching his 60th birthday, Burgess looks back over his writing career and talks about why he lives abroad, the fuss over the film of his novel A Clockwork Orange, writing for films, the music he composes, and the dawn visitations he has from the ghost of Henry James.
