Hollywood epics, Cleopatra is the story of the life and times of the legendary queen of the Nile. The chequered history of the events surrounding its making have become almost as famous as the history it portrays. Under Joseph L. Mankiewicz 's direction, however, Cleopatra emerges as a dazzling spectacle featuring strong performances by Rex Harrison and Richard Burton with Elizabeth Taylor never more beautiful as the most famous femmefatale of all time.
