Vincent D'Onofrio as pulp novelist Robert E Howard , creator of such fantasy characters as Conan the Barbarian. Living in rural Texas in the thirties, Howard has already made a name for himself as a writer, but remains emotionally tied to his ailing mother. Then into his life comes high school teacher Novalyne Price.
