Gary and Kevin were both born in 1969, the year the present
Troubles broke out in Northern
Ireland. Like thousands of others they have known no other life. This documentary, the last programme in the 25 Bloody
Years season, was filmed over one week and follows Gary, Kevin and the other
25-year-olds living in the mid-Ulster town of Lurgan.
The programme reveals how segregation influences all aspects of their life - from which side of the street they can walk on after dark to which pubs they can frequent.
On the second day of filming an explosion kills a man and his family as they drive down a Protestant street. The repercussions affect everyone, even those who do not know the victims. "Everytimethereisany thought of getting together, along comes another attack to drive a wedge between the two communities," says one 25-year-old woman. Producer Mike Dutfield
