Val Doonican's Homeward Bound

Paddy Moloney is regarded as Ireland's most famous living traditional musician.
Together with the Chieftains, he has made Irish music popular worldwide. He tells Val how priests at one time conducted open-air masses when such worship was illegal. In her youth, Noirin Ni Riain learnt hundreds of traditional and religious songs collected from rural Irish-speaking areas. Today, she is gaining international recognition for her unique presentation of this music. Val meets her in the grounds of Glenstal Abbey near Limerick and hears her sing her setting of The Magnificat in the Abbey's icon room.
