When Cole Thornton rides into El Dorado , he finds an old friend, Sheriff Harrah, on the other side of a gun barrel. Cole leaves town when he discovers that he has been hired to run people off their land, but it is not long before he is back. This time he finds the Sheriff in a bad way and as Cole himself has a paralysed arm, the two of them don't seem much opposition to the cattle baron's gunfighters ...
