To open a season of films directed by Henry King , a family saga set in the beautiful countryside of Baltimore, showing King's nostalgic view of an earlier America.
Following the death of her husband in a riding accident, strongwilled Charlotte Danfield orders the horse shot and her famous stables closed. She becomes a near recluse at the vast estate in Maryland. But she reckons without her young son's instinct for horses and the tenacity of her former trainer, William.
