with the Corrymeela Community, Northern Ireland
At the end of November 1965 about 300 people gathered in a large white house overlooking the Atlantic on a windswept headland on the north coast of Ireland. They were people who saw the need in a divided society for some new expression of Christianity in the face of the paralysis of so much church life. Today it is a thriving community devoted to fostering better understanding between all kinds of men and women not only in Ireland but far beyond. Seamus McKee visited the Community for its celebratory Summerfest and spoke to those who remember its beginnings and who have experienced its peace; and the members and friends of Corrymeela sing the songs which are the inspiration of their work.
