On paper DENNIS TAYLOR (the holder) and STEVE DAVIS were due for a repeat of the showpiece World Final last season. With well over 100 entrants for this Grand Prix title perhaps that was too much to expect.
With one table now the centre of attention from the many-sided full house, there will be tragedy and triumph in this afternoon's frames.
