The story so far:
Harry Yates, continuing his investigation of the murder of Fay Collins, finds the scarf with which she was strangled. The apparent owner of the scarf, Clifton Morris, denies having known the murdered girl. In Littleshaw, on the farm where Fay's body was found, Alistair Goodman, the farm owner, finds a cigarette lighter belonging to Morris.
