Olympic Grandstand

on BBC One London

featuring the final day of competition Introduced by Desmond Lynam
Individual Show Jumping Final from Santa Anita Park British riders have been on the medal rostrum but never won the gold in this most prized equestrian championship. Marion Coakes on Stroller in 1968, and Ann Moore on Psalm in 1972 came closest with silver medals, and David Broome and Peter Robeson have won bronze. The British team boycotted the Games in Moscow in 1980, and at an alternative show for abstainers in Rotterdam, John Whitaker was second behind Hugo Simon of Austria. JOHN WHITAKER is in the team again this time, with his brother MICHAEL and DAVID BOWEN , TIM GRUBB and Harvey's son, STEVEN SMITH.

Men's Highboard Diving Final
The final event in the Olympic Diving Pool features a spectacular mix of twists, somersaults and pikes in this highly visual competition. Italy's Klaus Dibiasi won three consecutive golds from 1968 to 1976. Now the USA hopes to resume its domination. Commentator HAMILTON BLAND
