Barbara Hendricks
In 1986, American soprano Barbara Hendricks became the youngest person ever to receive the decoration Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres from the French government. She was decorated again - in 1992 - by President Mitterand. In today's programme, she talks to Joan Bakewell about her affinity with France and the French language, both musically and culturally. With music by Faure, Debussy and Berlioz.
