from Helsinki Introduced by Desmond Lynam
The final day of this first-ever championship, which has witnessed the greatest gathering of track and field athletes of all time. The pick of this afternoon's 11 finals is the 1500m, the distance at which Britain boasts the world record holder STEVE OVETT , and the European and Commonwealth Champion STEVE CRAM.
There will be live coverage also of the marathon, whose 26-mile 385-yard route runs in part along the coast and lakes around the Finnish capital. The women's 200m final could see KATHY COOK among the medals, while our men's 4 x 400m team will be hoping to uphold Britain's great tradition in the event.
