A serial reading by Eric Gillett
The French army has occupied
Moscow. Fire breaks out in the old city, deserted by most of its inhabitants. The Rostov family party, among the last to leave, has been joined at the last moment by a carriage in which a severely wounded officer is lying. This man turns out to be Prince Andrew, to whom Natasha Rostov had been engaged.
