Horizon: Fire

on BBC Two England

What would you do in a fire? Call the Brigade? Try to put it out yourself? Or just scream?
Last year the UK property loss topped £100 million. Six thousand people were seriously injured and a thousand died. New furnishings, building materials, high rise flats and shopping precincts are all helping to replace the old enemy flame with a new and much more dangerous one - toxic fumes. Produced by smouldering synthetic fabrics, toxic fumes can kill a man in minutes. And few of us realise it.
Horizon probes the cause of the fire increase and asks what can be done about it.
