Catherine Ballou leads a respectable life until a group of Wolf City businessmen hire a professional killer, Strawn, to gun down her rancher-father. Cat Ballou turns outlaw, gathering a band which consists of an incompetent cattle rustler, a crooked preacher, her Indian ranch hand, Jackson, and the ageing alcoholic Kid Shelleen, a legend in his lifetime but now barely able to draw a gun without falling over. ,
