A six-part series, from source to sea, about China's most violent river - and the cradle of its early civilisation. 3: The Temple
For centuries the Taer
Temple has been a celebrated centre of pilgrimage for
Tibetan Buddhists. For the first time, a camera has been allowed an intimate look at their lives, from prayers before dawn to the yearly climax of the religious calendar when a huge figure of Buddha - sculpted in rancid butter - is revealed to thousands of pilgrims.
Written and narrated by Stephen Jessel , former BBC correspondent in China.
