In this homage to the Hollywood musical, director Ken Russell has transformed
Sandy Wilson 's hit stage musical Into a delightful, tongue-in-cheek spectacular. Twiggy, in her first screen role, stars as Young Polly Browne. the nervous assistant stage manager and dogsbody of a wttered provincial company in the 20s. When the leading lady fails to turn up, Polly suddenly finds herself the star of the show.
