Tomorrow's World

on BBC One London

Giving sight back to the blind by utilising their teeth may sound bizarre, but a new technique could make it possible. Until now the only way of treating a badly damaged cornea has been a transplant. Now an Italian surgeon has developed a method of manufacturing an artifical cornea from one of the patient's teeth. Tonight's programme follows the progress of the first British patient to undergo the treatment. Presented by Howard Stableford and Shahnaz Pakravan, with Vivienne Parry, Philippa Forrester, Jez Nelson, Rebecca Stephens and Craig Doyle.
(Stereo) (Subtitled)
