Once again the pages of I Scrapbook ' turn — for the fifty-third time. ' Scrapbooks ' started in 1933, since when they have dealt with twenty-two years between 1900 and 1930. Many of the programmes have been repeated, and also, in pre-war days, rebroadcast on different wavelengths.
' Scrapbook for 1903 ' was first broadcast in December, 1938, when John McCormack made his BBC début simultaneously with his retirement. Since he gave his farewell performance at the Albert Hall in 1938, however, John McCormack has come out of retirement, and is making a tour in aid of the Red Cross. He is broadcasting again this week in a special programme for the Forces on Tuesday.
